| In this case it is the oldest Catholic chapel on the island. 13 crucifixes (the way of the Cross) lead the way up the hill to the chapel. The picturesque Chapel of Alto Vista, the first chapel of Aruba, exudes tranquility on its dramatic setting above the sea. The chapel was built by the Indians and Spanish and is often referred to as the Pilgrim's Church. Visitors should be decently dressed, at least not in shorts and a shirt without sleeves. Inside the chapel there isn't very much to see, at least nothing like European churches with lots of sculptures and paintings. | |
